City Day Camp Program Jobs
Day Camp positions are full, only accepting resumes for After-school and Leadership programs.
The role of Day Camp staff is to plan, implement and supervise small group activities, special events and field trips for children aged 6-12 years living in Toronto's Flemingdon/Thorncliffe Park community.
Job descriptions are divided into 3 categories:
Day Camp Counsellor
| Hours |
40 hours per week; program runs from approximately June 23, 2008 through August 22, 2008 |

Required
Skills and Experience |
- Work cooperatively with co-counsellor to plan, implement and supervise activities such as swimming, crafts, co-operative games and drama designed to meet the skills and behavioural needs of the participants.
- Assist with the logistics and supervision of campers on field trips.
- Help Program Coordinator deliver breakfast and snack programs.
- Participates in camper arrival and departure routines.
- Assist campers adjusting to the camp environment and help develop and implement behaviour management strategies.
- Responsible for preparing and cleaning program rooms.
- Ensures that day camp facilities are maintained and not misused/abused.
- Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff.
- Embodies and implements Moorelands Day Camp goals, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications |
- At least 16 years of age.
- Have experience working directly with children aged 6 – 12 years old.
- Must have the desire and ability to work with children in an indoor and outdoor setting.
- Proven leadership, organization and interpersonal skills.
- Be energetic, enthusiastic, patient and flexible.
- Able to work in team and individual settings.
- Current Standard First Aid preferred.
- Knowledge of the Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park areas is an asset.

Program Coordinator

- Assists director and counsellors planning, implementing and supervising theme days and activities such as swimming, crafts, co-operative games and drama.
- Coordinates the breakfast and snack programs.
- In charge of group and master attendance list.
- Coordinates early arrival and late
pick ups.
- Oversees logistics of trips i.e. bus coordination, snacks and supplies.
- Oversees equipment, food and art supplies. Collects inventory requests.
- Fills in for any staff that is absent or during staff breaks.
- Provides support for more difficult groups and works one on one with campers who need extra support.
- Assists develop and implement behaviour management strategies.
- Assists in training Senior and Junior Counsellors during training week.
- Responsible for helping prepare and clean the program rooms.
- Ensures that day camp facilities are maintained and not misused/abused.
- Involved in performance appraisal process.
- Assists Day Camp Director in completing administrative duties where needed.
- Acts as a positive role model for day campers and other staff.
- Embodies and implements Moorelands Camp goals, policies and procedures.
- Assists director and counsellors with other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications |
- At least 18 years of age.
- Have extensive experience working directly with children aged 6 – 12 years.
- Have experience coordinating programs, activities or events.

Day Camp Director (Filled)

- Assists hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating Day camp staff.
- Plans, delivers and monitors Day camp programs and schedule.
- Oversees camper recruitment, registration process, camper reports and evaluations.
- Oversees pre and post-camp work.
- Liaises with partner and referring organizations and Day camp families.
- Responsible for the timely preparation and submission of required reports, billings, payroll documentation, and other paperwork.
- Assists and updates Day Camp manual, job descriptions, curriculum, and program manuals.
- Implements crisis management plan including emergency procedures.
- Responsible for the preparation and submission of in-depth Day camp Final.
- Report, evaluation, and recommendations for distribution by September 30th.
- Oversees site and equipment safety and maintenance.
- Acts as positive role model and leader.
- Participates in Moorelands Community Services staff meetings and other events as required.
- Embodies and implements Moorelands Camp goals, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications |
- Degree or diploma from a recognized university or college or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in administration and leadership in an organized children’s camp or related field.
- Excellent planning, interpersonal, organizational, training, and supervisory skills.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR is preferred
- Knowledge of the Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park areas is an asset.
- Working knowledge of OCA standards and the “Code of Professional and Business Ethics for OCA members” is required.
